Well, here it is, all the current Aztec Mumbo-Jumbo. Aztec Singers is just about to start the Christmas show season, and WE LOOK GOOD!!!! This year we have 2nd year new dresses and a few old classic songs on our repertoire, but, we perform them with all the same Aztec flare. So far our repertoire for competition season looks to be: "Back Here"~ BB Mak, "Your Momma Don't Dance", "Superstition" ~ Stevie Wonder, and "Where Would We Be" as our a capella piece. We've already started working on these numbers in order to get ready for our first show of the year, the XXVII annual Aztec Sing, held at Citrus College on January 25th. Azusa's Drama department has a relatively new face, Mr. Kevin Dempsey.

The AHS academic decathlon team is doing OK. we had a scrimmage
last Saturday, I ranked 1st place among the other AHS acadeca students,
and everyone else did pretty well. We had a fieldtrip a while back in October
to bakersfield for a concert and lecture on country music. A guy named Buck
Owens performed... I liked his guitar (fender telecaster, I'm a guitarist).
There are groups that have been developed recently. It's called REACH. It's basically helping the students decide what they want to do in their future. Allot find it as a kick back thing; I find it as a great opportunity to see what I'm good at. In my reach group, I will be in a band and play at the Azusapalooza. The Azusapalooza is an annual gathering with some high school bands perform, where different clubs do their fund raisers (French club...), a place where radio stations are welcome, etc. 2 years ago, a SKA band played. Last year, quite a few bands performed, and power 106 was there, unfortunately Kroq was a no-show for the 2nd year in the row! The Azusa high's marching band placed first over Gladstone earlier this week. Ed Cheney's still here! He looks the same as he did in the picture taken somewhere in the 60's! he is also a cross country coach. The school has been newly painted at the beginning of this school year. There's a chess club which is run by Mr. Dolin. -Michelle, junior at AHS |
