One of my most depicted memories being a student at Azusa High School are mainly particapating in the schools marching band and performing at the football games, and competing at the tournaments, such as the fieldshows and parades, by which they were all a lot of fun to be at, and especially coming home with numerous awards from some of the competitions. I do consider myself as an overacchiever, because if it wasn't for being in a strong, deciplined structured, marching band, I would not of been able to find a way to cope with having High- Function Autism, as well as, dealing with some personal hurts that were done to me by some members of my peers since elementary school, and sixth- grade. Luckly, I am the type person, that is more than willing to forgive them, because, that is type person that is willing to do so.

I remember getting high with Randy Pearl in the back of math class. Randy had been a “Jesus Freak” in Jr. High. Always preaching the Word of God to everyone and handing out Chick Tracts. Wow… who would have thought I’d be the one ending up doing things like that? I remember one of my best friends, Sherry Bailey. She and I hung out all the time. We used to cruise around in my mothers station wagon with my siblings and the kids she babysat. Oh… the trouble we got into, things like doing 60 mph in the Foothill Center with a car load of kids and a flat tire. I’m so glad the Judge thought that was impossible. I used to ask her to be my girlfriend all the time. She decline, but gave me “special” privileges. Hey… I didn’t mind being used. Well… I’m going to get on out of here. I’ve got teenage daughters myself now that are demanding I pay attention to them rather than this computer. This inspired me to take charge and plan the 10 year reunion for my graduating class, of 1995. I am hoping everyone will come. I know it will be so much fun just seeing and having a good time with my fellow alumni. The committee and I have worked hard to make this event simple and fun. My best memories were from AHS and I have so many memories with so many of you. I remember the first time I got caught ditching. Does anyone remember the HOPE room, where they sent us when we were defient! I went but always got out of it. The teacher's were great and for me they not only gave me an education they taught me about life. Well what I was doing wrong with mine at least. So, I hope if you're reading this and you're from my class you'll come to the reunion.

My favorite memories of high school are of TeePeeing,Driving up to the canyon at night and doing crazy things (not like that), Aztec Singers and hanging out at the school after football games! I can remember during an Aztec Singer Comp. at Fullerton, me and a few of my friends broke into the bus because we were tired. We had to lift one of the girls on someones shoulders and pry the bus window open. The bus driver caught us, but she was pretty cool about it. Another memeory of Aztec Singers was during one of our Christmas perfomances at the West Covina Bowling Alley! All of the Basses and Tenors (literally, all of them)went to a house near the school and let's just say, had a little party of their own before we left. During the performance, a tenor (nameless) had a major laughing attack while singing which then started a whole laugh-a-rama with the patrons, performers and Mr. Wilson. Poor thing, Mr. Wilson never knew why this normally shy and quiet guy wasn't so quiet anymore. It was great! There was also the Football Game Nights! We would follow the bus back to school and wait for all the guys to come out of the locker room. Once they were all out we use to have the greatest Hide and Seek games on campus. Now the place looks like a prison! Ahhh, the days of TeePeeing! Those summer nights laughing our butts off in the car. Waiting to get caught! Oh the suspense would kill me. Driving up to the Canyon at night! And don't act like you never went up there. It was pretty awsome driving up there talking about teenage drama, the stars, scaring friends by saying they saw a bear or lion, making out with your current love, and much, much more! High School was pretty fun! Joanne C/O 95'

Kevin Dempsey!!! This man was one of the BEST english teachers you could hope for. Because, he was NOT a teacher. He was our friend first and our mentor next. He never talked down to us, and never treated us like we were "less-than" and he treated everyone like that. who else? Christina Pendergraft, another great person, and outstanding woman. Jackie Litrell, one of the best people to ever work for Azusa. Jenny Armas and all the women in Activities. Doug George!!! Art Mason, great guy. Benny Flores, best of the best. Dave Lewis... good guy... Erine Frank... great friend, awsome coach. Kevin Nunez, great coach... John Sausedo... Man did he help me clear my thougths when I was sure I was going NUTZ. Thanks. Who else? Alice Flores from the Library! God she was great... Ed Cheney! This guy was one in a million!!! Mr. Colera!!! VERY funny guy... Awsome teacher. MR. RUH. Never was in his class, but got to know him and liked him alot. Nancy Clarke!!! She was great... and A Packer Fan!!! Go Pack Go!!! Mr. Ramos... cool cat right there... Mr. Kear... cool guy... good, solid teacher... And now for the "Shock Of The CENTURY" now, if you ask most people about this guy, normally you get the same almost universal reaction, but I really, really enjoyed being taught by and getting to know...(Drum Roll)......... Darren Near. And you'd be shocked how many people agree with me... myself and my male peers found him to be intelligent, funny, and a caring person, while no less than 2 dozen of my female peers had the "Hots" for him. ewwwwwww. One girl, who I was actually dating at the time discribed Mr. Near as "VERY Sexy" For awhile I was actually thinking of getting blonde highlights and carrying around a 9 iron. Lol.

I can remember “TAPING” Mr. Moll’s car in the driveway at his house. “Taping” was the covert way of saying we were going to throw eggs (or anything else we could get our hands on) at his car. The torment went on for almost 2 months before he got a clue. A neighbor finally helped him by staying in waiting for us as we made our final run. We were in Rick Veltman’s parents’ station wagon we got popped. The neighbor drove by us and shouted out that he had the license plate number and that he was going to inform the police of our activities. The next day the San Dimas Sheriff’s department had called me up and informed me that Rick Veltman had ratted on all of the involved parties. What a stool pigeon. Stay down with your bad self Rick! Good looking out Wood! - - - - - - So on with the stories… oh yeah… plenty of marijuana & beer to be found on the AHS Campus back in the late 70’s. I can remember the “Jocks” chugging beers in competition with each other at lunch under that little tree in front of the snack bar by the gym. I myself used to kick it in my 66’ Lincoln Continental (yes… the one w/suicide doors) in the parking lot toking up a storm with the “Stoners” doing doughnuts in that bad boat till there was no rubber left to burn off the tires. It was one of the best times of my life. - - - - - - Life is strange however… I’m now a non-substance abusing single-parent raising 2 of my 3 lovely daughters. | Wrote... ok hello ppl, it's me again!!! I'm just talk about my teachers. My favorite one from my freshman year is Mr. Dempsey he brought out the spirit in us, he hardly gave us homework and he was funny. This year, my sophomore year, it's Mr. Ruh, at first he was scary. But if you get to know him he's great and he's really funny too, in a way. So those too are great teachers.

I remember how I used to feel that I would never have a boyfriend, and ended up with some of the greatest guys AHS ever had to offer. I remember, (I was the same age as the class of '68 even though I was in '67) how some of the girls in '68 were angry at me for being with the guys they felt like glomming onto. Sorry girls. I really loved those guys, except WF who was a nasty SOB. He scared me. Anyway, Happy Birthday, John!

I also made more loyal and trusting friends, although some of my grades were not good. This year so far is going great, and I met more people, improved my grades, like more girls, and have my cuzzin (c/o 2007) by my side. My favorite teacher from last year was Mr Dempsey and this year is Mr. Ruh, I guess. It's very exciting being an AZTEC!!!

I vividly remember the Halloween night that a couple of friends (twins...and you know who you are!) set a palm tree on fire just for the fun of it! Don`t think that there weren`t any drugs around in those days. There was a big white 2 story house on a corner downtown that was "the place" to go and buy "bennies." My favorite teachers....Miss Cowan, Mr. Stewart, and Mr. Waters. And omigod, do you remember the teacher who would drop his glass eye out to make his class quit talking too much? Just too gross for words!! So, hello to all of you from classes 60' and 61'. Hope you all are doing great and enjoying life!
